NEED a good reason to dine out? Here's one. Patronise the New Zealand Food Fair 2003 at the Merdeka Palace Hotel and Suites' Ristorante Beccari and you could win a free return air ticket to Auckland. There will also be twenty consolation prizes of discount food vouchers up for grabs. At the same time, you can do your bit for charity too. The event, organised by the Malaysia New Zealand Business Council Sarawak Chapter every Thursday evening in August aims to raise funds for the School for the Mentally Retarded (PEKATA), the Sarawak Children's Cancer Society, the Kidney Dialysis Centre, the Sarawak Thalassaemia Society and the Lion Nursing Home as well as to promote New Zealand's food and products.

Specially flown in ingredients from New Zealand are used for the preparation of the plated starter, comprising of Rosette of Smoked King Salmon with Lime Mayo, Poached Fillet of King Salmon dressed with Salsa Verde, Roasted Garlic Marinated Green Mussel and Fresh Oyster, and the buffet spread.

To warm yourself up, enjoy the rich Cream of Asparagus Soup with bread and NZ butter before you head for the main course, where they serve up Honey and Vanilla Roasted Sweet Potato, Pumpkin Spiked Mashed Potato, Cauliflower Cheese, Peperonata, Traditional Oxtail Stew and Lamb Shank Ossu Buco-Style.

From the carving station, you can have a choice of the tender and succulent Boned and Rolled Leg of Lamb or the Prime Steer Striploin with Mint, Mustard, Brown, Mushroom or Horseradish Sauce.

There is also a pizza station, where you can relish on some freshly baked pizzas. Several varieties of toppings are available, namely Vegetarian, Pepperoni, Cheese and Home Style.

Do leave some room for the tantalising desserts... Cinnamon Baked Fuji Apples with Creme Anglaise, Tiramisu Cakes made with Kapiti Masscapone, Mini Lemon Meringues, Bread and Butter Pudding, Cheese Cake, you wouldn't want to miss any of them!

Speaking of cheese, there is also a selection of them for you to try out. There is the Aged Port Wine Cheddar, Aged Whisky Cheese, Herb and Garlic Cheese, and Chili and Garlic Cheese, to name a few.

And of course, who could leave out the Ice Cream. Let the different flavours - Almond Pistachio, Mint with Chocolate Chip, Vanilla Cashew, etc, melt in your mouth.

There is also a selection of New Zealand wines available for sale during the dinner. Under the list of White Wine, there is the Stoneleigh Sauvignon Blanc 2002, Montana Reserve Chardonnay 1998, Stoneleigh Chardonnay 2001, and Church Road Hawke's Bay Chardonnay 2000.
