The GO2002 survey of 31 countries found 71 per cent of New Zealanders had used the internet in the past month. That was the highest percentage of the countries surveyed, which included Australia, Britain and the United States. State Services Minister Trevor Mallard said the survey showed just how internet "savvy we are". Global market research company Taylor Nelson Sofres last month surveyed 1000 New Zealanders for the study. The survey found 40 per cent of the New Zealanders had used e-government services in the previous 12 months, compared with the global average of 30 per cent. Government services used included accessing statistical or tax information, or registering a company on-line. The New Zealand results of the survey were commissioned by the Sates Service Commission's E-government Unit. -NZPA
